Ok, So I Went to the City Yesterday for a Pretty Silly Reason

A friend let me know that there was a review of “Chain Mail Jewelry” on page 18 of the February 2007 issue of “Bead & Button” magazine. The weather was so nice that I just couldn’t resist slipping over to the city for the day to pick up a copy, since Bead & Button isn’t available locally.

In part, the review reads: “Clear color-coded illustrations and large detailed photos demystify the ancient art of chain mail. With these inventive projects, chain mail is now modern, versatile, at times open and airy, and made completely accessible to the beginner through careful step-by-step instructions alongside computerized graphics. There are plenty of designs for intermediate and advanced readers too, with a gallery full of artists’ work to inspire you even beyond this book.”

Which I think is pretty darn positive, thank you Bead and Button!

P.S. I actually went to Sudbury a couple of weeks ago for the almost identical purpose of picking up the Winter 2007 edition of "Step-by-Step Wire Jewelry", which contains very positive reviews not only of Chain Mail Jewelry, but also my first book, “The Art of Chainmail: Volume I”.

So, I suppose I should say “Thank you Step-by-Step Wire Jewelry!”, as well!

Did you guys have fun in the city? We got almost all we almost everything on our list accomplished. Let me tell ya, I am sooooooooo not driving to Sudbury again!! Next time, I'm leaving the driving to Hubby! That was one stressful day trip! LOL!

BTW, I got Hubby Max Payne for PS2 at a shop in the New Sudbury Mall...for $7! I know it's kinda old school. I've played it on my PC a few years ago. I've forgotten most of it though. We've been hooked for the past 2 days. I've even reduced myself to finding online cheats for the game. Sad! LOL

Had a productive day in the city as well, although, I think I’m going to end up going back on Wednesday, a friend and I share the same birthday and they invited me over for dinner and perhaps a movie.

Sudbury has quite the reputation for bad drivers and hellacious traffic. I remember being scared out of my mind about taking my final driving lesson in the city, but managed to survive and now sort of regard the bad traffic in Sudbury rather fondly as it prepared me nicely for future road trips, like Route 22 in New Jersey. Which was perhaps one of the most ferocious driving experiences of my life, of course, the Q.E.W. surely is no cakewalk either!

Funny, you’re the second person to mention Max Payne in the past couple of weeks. I always meant to give Max a shot, as I’m a fan of the style, however, most First Person Shooters just don’t turn my crank, especially when played on the console. I remember trying Red Faction on the PS2 years ago and being completely puzzled about how anyone could stand playing a FPS without a mouse for looking around.

Although, the Halo series sure does have a lot of fans, and GoldenEye is still considered one of the best deathmatch games ever, so maybe I should give console FPS’s another shot someday. I’ve been playing a little “Stubbs the Zombie”, which is more like a First Person Brain Eater and now I suddenly feel myself getting nostalgic for some Unreal Tournament. Looks like it’s time to go blast something!

Hey! Happy birthday in advance! You should come over for some Max Payne game playing! LOL! That game is so stressful and so addictive!

PS. Seriously, come over for some PS2 action! Hubby would greatly appreciate another player's insights!

Hey Dylon! Hope you had a great b-day! BTW, I was admiring your Flickr photos and must say that you are a very talented photographer. What camera do you use?

Thank you very much! Taking picture is still very much just a hobby for me, most of the island pics on flickr were either taken with my old Nikon Coolpix 900 or my newer Nikon Coolpix S4. The 900 finally died after many years of fine service last spring, which is why I picked up the S4, which was a decent enough little camera, but the lack of a manual focus made it impossible to take pictures of my jewelry.

This, of course, is why I picked up the Nikon D70s SLR a few months back, so far it’s been amazing for my jewelry shots, so I’m pretty excited to get out this year and see how it performs for the nature pictures I seem to enjoy taking so much!

Wow, looks like I’ve been pretty darn lax at keeping up with my journal, it’s been crazy lately, went from almost no computer jobs to being nearly overwhelmed, seems like I’ve been out every day for the past 2 weeks fixing computers!

I keep thinking about things I want to write posts about, but never seem to have the time to sit down and actually get some writing done!
