Dylon Whyte, At the Movies

1. Popcorn or candy? Both, real butter for the popcorn, for candy, it depends on my mood, Sugar Babies are always a good choice! (Twizzlers too, mmmm and Milk Duds and Peanut Butter Cups... Oh, uh Hello, my name is Dylon and I'm a sugar addict...) Of course, sometimes it's good to mix the candy with popcorn! (YUM!)

2. Name a movie you've been meaning to see forever. Terry Gillium's "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas".

3. You are given the power to recall one Oscar: Who loses theirs and to whom? 2006 best picture "Crash" would be recalled and given to "SFrank Miller's Sin City (Recut, Extended, Unrated)". (and the best actor award to Marv while I was at it!)

4. Steal one costume from a movie for your wardrobe. Clint Eastwood's Poncho from Sergio Leone's "Man with No Name" trilogy (i.e. A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly).

(Most folks don't realize that the simple Poncho is perhaps one of the most powerful "superheroic transformation devices" ever! Imagine this scene: A meek, mild mannered stranger swaggers into town, poncho down. Suddenly he is confronted by a group of ruthless brigands, who jeer and hassle the stranger until, finally, in one elegant gesture, the poncho is flung back over the stranger's shoulders to reveal the fully transformed hero; pearl handled six-shooters at his side, ready to take down anyone that gets in his way, poncho flowing off his shoulders so dramatically that even Superman would shed a tear!)

5. Your favorite film franchise is... The obvious choices, of course, Original Star Wars Trilogy (Widescreen Edition Without Bonus Disc), The Lord of the Rings
, James Bond, the above mentioned Sergio Leone trilogy,
Conan the Barbarian/Destroyer Jackie Chan (he's a movie franchise unto himself, isn't he?),
The Mad Max Trilogy, and who can forget Indiana Jones
, A Nightmare on Elm Street
and all the Friday the 13th movies?

6. Invite five movie people over for dinner. Who are they? Why'd you invite them? What do you feed them? Richard Linklater (Philosophy), Terry Gillium (Monty Python), Quentin Tarantino (Energy and Trivia), Tim Burton (Eccentricity) and Ennio Morricone (to provide the theme music "waaa-waa-waaaaa"). I would serve them Hassenpheffer with fava beans and a nice chianti.

7. What is the appropriate punishment for people who answer cell phones in the movie theater? Scrubbing previously chewed gum from the men's urinals.

8. Choose a female bodyguard:

Well, beside the obvious choice of finally turning the tables on that whiney be-yatch Whitney Houston, my choices are:

Undisputed Champ:
Falling Leaves (Brandon Merrill) from "Shanghai Noon" (This lady simply melts my heart and she has perfect timing for getting one out of all sorts of hot water! Plus she's a real life rodeo star!)

Close Runner-up:
Molly Millions (a.k.a. Sally Shears) from William Gibson's "Neuromancer", "Mona Lisa Overdrive", and ""Johnny Mnemonic" (Sorry, I know she's not a movie character… …yet! But this character is just vicious and ever so stylish!)

Honorable Mentions:

Eowyn (Miranda Otto) from Lord of the Rings: "The Two Towers" and "The Return of the King" (A genuine shieldmaiden that's tough enough to take down the Lord of the Nazgul? Hell yeah! Miranda Otto was also very attractive in the quirky semi-roadtrip-esque "Danny Deckchair".)

Arwen (Liv Tyler) from Lord of the Rings: "The Fellowship of the Ring" (Because you need someone to watch your back before Eowyn shows up to take down the Lord of the Nazgul. This elf can ride like all hell and she has a couple of good tricks up her sleeve before she spends the next two movies doing her classic "pensive posing". Plus, I grew up with Liv Tyler in all those Aerosmith videos from the 90's. Just what ~did~ she and Alicia Silverstone get up to in that photobooth in the video for "Crazy"?)

Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) from "Terminator 2" (Starts the movie as the ultimate hot chick in prison, then kicks some series cyborg butt. Loses points for being uninteresting in TV's "Beauty and the Beast", but at least she digs really ugly guys, like myself!)

Mystique (Rebecca Romijn) from "The X-Men Trilogy (X-Men/ X2: X-Men United/ X-Men: The Last Stand)" (I mean, who wouldn't want Raven Darkholme on their side? If for no other reason than you really, really, really don't want her on "their" side!)

Lornette 'Mace' Mason (Angela Bassett) from "Strange Days" (This lady showed some serious muscle when watching out for an ineffectual hero that was always getting his ass handed to him by the bad guys.)

Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) from "Alien Resurrection" (Three words: "The basketball scene".)

Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) from "The Matrix" (Who else can resurrect you from the dead and help you transform into "The One" after everything else has failed?)

Xenia Onatopp (Famke Janssen) from "Goldeneye" (She has realty sexy eyes and kills men with her super strong thighs!)

Boushh, the Ubese Bounty Hunter (Carrie Fisher) from "Return of the Jedi (1983 & 2004 versions, Two-Disc Widescreen Edition)" (Because ~he~ has a thermal detonator!)

Red Sonja (Brigitte Nielsen) from Red Sonja (Robert E. Howard barbarian women rawk! I hear that there's going to be a new Red Sonja in 2008, score!)

Xena (Lucy Lawless) from "Xena Warrior Princess)" (I like my ladies big and strong and I go gaga for long hair and bangs! Callisto, Xena's arch-nemesis (Hudson Leick) was pretty damn kick-ass as well, if just a little too evil for my personal taste! Although, she can sing quite well, much better than that no-talent screamer Whitney Houston!)

Hu Li (Ziyi Zhang) from "Rush Hour 2" (This tiny lady has kicked serious ass in all kinds of movies, like "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", "Hero" & "House of Flying Daggers", but she was never more psychotic than in "Rush Hour 2", just check out the expression on her face in the picture.)

Princess Kitana (Talisa Soto) from Mortal Kombat / Mortal Kombat Annihilation (She's hot, tough and has a dreamy voice!)

Dylan Sanders (Drew Barrymore) from "Charlie's Angels" and "Charlie's Angels - Full Throttle" (I mean, Drew has been kicking alien butt since she was like, what, 5? ~and~ she's super quirky in that really attractive sort of way!)

Lt. Jordan O'Neil (Demi Moore) from "G.I. Jane" (Tough as nails, never gives up and it's ~Demi~ for goodness sake!)

Justice from (Shannon Elizabeth) "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" (Tough, athletic and a smart ass, what's not to love?)

Three Cheers for the ladies of "Sin City"'s Old Town! Especially Gail (Rosario Dawson) & Miho (Devon Aoki) All these girls rawk, except that prissy little traitor Becky! (Alexis Bledel)

9. What's the scariest thing you've ever seen in a movie? ""The Day After"" scared the bejesus out of me when I was a kid, "Fear Dot Com" (Dot Com) scared the hell out of me because I actually paid $9.50 to see such a piece of crap in the theatre. The "reprogramming" scene in "A Clockwork Orange" is pretty traumatic and come to think of it, the final fate of Randle Patrick McMurphy (Jack Nicholson) in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" is pretty damn hellacious to think about!

10. Your favorite genre (excluding comedy and drama) is? Chronological displacement.

11. You are given the power to greenlight movies at a major studio for one year. How do you wield this power? With a benevolently iron first! No sequels for an entire year, only original stories and no movies for big name stars that already have enough money.

12. Bonnie or Clyde? Warren Who? Faye all the way!

13: Who are you tagging to answer this survey: Anyone that enjoys a good meme infection.

WOW! Very cool selections! I agree with most of your choices (some I would have chosen, but forgot about until you mentioned them). Totally agree with you on the girls from Sin City...Ohh that prissy little traitor Becky! (Alexis Bledel) What a traitor!!!

I didn't realize their were so many female bodyguards to choose from! I forgot about "A Clockwork Orange" and McMurphy in "One Flew Over.." That was tragic.

Thank you! Yes, number 8 was the easiest question to come up with answers for (guess that’s just the kinda gals I am into) and number 9 was the hardest!

I guess that over the years I have just been exposed to a lot horror imagery in movies, so traditional content for the genera just isn’t scary. I had to think about what kind of situations truly frightened me, which led me to think about situations that involved a complete loss of control coupled with a horrific and permanent mind-alteration. To me, losing control of myself and then no longer being myself (and not knowing that anything has been lost) is a lot more frightening than just about any other concept!
